Cibola County
Public Safety Complex

2023
Vigil & Associates engaged with Cibola County to assess needs versus wants and determine priorities that provided the best design solutions without sacrificing budget. To mitigate “surprises” associated with renovations, V&A employed Building Information Modeling (BIM) to recreate an accurate 3d model of the existing facility before construction documentation began. Using this model allowed for well-coordinated drawings and provided cost savings, as “clash detection” capabilities in Revit helped our team to identify coordination errors before construction began.
This project consisted of renovation of Cibola County Public Safety Building. The renovation of the new building was to facilitate Sheriff’s office, 911 Dispatch offices, and Office of Emergency Management. The project was an adaptive-reuse and near-total interior renovation of the approximately 20,000 SF existing facility to support the functions of the three county departments to be co-located there. This included extensive spatial reconfiguration and significant supporting power/data and HVAC modifications to support the new building program. Structural and plumbing modifications took place as necessary. New electrical service was brought to the building. Exterior work included new landscaping, replacement of paving, creation of new secure areas, lighting, and construction of new canopies. Roof repairs addressed concerns with existing drainage.
