James B Delamater Activity Center Reno

Las Cruces, NM

In Progress

Vigil & Associates is proud to partner with New Mexico State University on the renovation and adaptive reuse of the James B. Delamater Activity Center, a project designed to elevate the student experience through improved wellness, recreation, and study spaces.

At the heart of the renovation is the transformation of the existing auxiliary courts (formerly courts five and six) into a state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor track. The new facility will feature:
* Over 12,000 square feet of expanded workout space (up from the existing 4,800 SF weight room)
* Modern equipment, turf areas, and mounted televisions
* An elevated walking and running track
* A maximum capacity of 250 users

In addition, the current weight room area will be reimagined as a welcoming and vibrant student lounge and study space, fostering a supportive environment for socializing, collaboration, and academic focus.

This renovation reflects NMSU’s commitment to student health, engagement, and overall well-being. With construction underway, the upgraded Delamater Activity Center will soon offer dynamic new spaces that today’s students—and future Aggies—can enjoy for years to come.
