Kearny Film Studio and Education Center

Vigil & Associates is proud to partner with the City of Raton and nonprofit El Raton Media Works on the transformation of the former Kearny Elementary School into the Kearny Film Studio and Education Center—a vibrant new hub for film production and workforce development.

This adaptive reuse project will introduce specialized classrooms and workshops for training in wardrobe design, makeup, carpentry, and other key roles within the film industry. The facility will also feature production offices, editing suites, and support spaces to foster professional creative work.

Planned renovations include:
* Redesign of the entry and lobby areas
* Full rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing restrooms
* Restoration of ceilings, roofing, and interior/exterior finishes
* Structural stabilization to ensure long-term integrity
* Comprehensive upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
* Site improvements, including grading and drainage enhancements

This project not only preserves a historic community asset but also supports economic growth and educational opportunity in Raton by building local capacity for New Mexico’s growing film industry.
