Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery Improvements
Angel Fire, NM
In Progress
Vigil & Associates is honored to partner with the State of New Mexico Department of Veterans Services and the New Mexico Facilities Management Division on the expansion and enhancement of the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This project is designed to strengthen the cemetery’s capacity while preserving its role as a dignified and enduring place of remembrance for New Mexico’s veterans and their families.
The project includes the expansion of the cremains burial field, adding a total of 244 new in-ground cremains sites through the enhancement of existing landscaped areas and the creation of new irrigated sod fields. These improvements increase the cremains area from approximately 0.198 acres to 0.384 acres and are supported by upgraded storm drainage, landscaping, and potable water system improvements to better serve visitors and staff.
Site enhancements also include the addition of a new Committal Shelter, constructed of cast-in-place concrete and CMU walls, providing a respectful and sheltered gathering space for services and ceremonies.
To support ongoing operations, the project introduces a new 2,613-square-foot, single-story Office and Maintenance Building. Designed with durable Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) and exposed CMU construction, the building will house administrative offices, restrooms, and essential support spaces that enable efficient day-to-day cemetery management.
Together, these improvements reinforce the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery as a place of honor, reflection, and service — ensuring it continues to meet the needs of New Mexico’s veterans for generations to come.
