Central Plant Facilities Offices Renovation
Albuquerque, NM
2024
Vigil & Associates was engaged to renovate the existing Facilities Management offices located at the University of New Mexico Hospital’s main utility plant. The project focused on modernizing and reorganizing the space to better support the hospital’s operational and administrative needs, while also upgrading the exterior façade to improve the building’s visual identity and functionality.
Scope of work began with thorough documentation of existing conditions and the production of accurate as-built drawings. Selective demolition was performed to remove outdated interior elements, underutilized structures, and outdated finishes. The new design reconfigured the internal layout to create a more efficient and comfortable work environment, while improving circulation and staff workflow.
Renovated spaces include a reception area to welcome staff and visitors, a dedicated data analyst room, IT and office supply rooms, and a support staff workspace. Additional improvements involved creating private offices for the Executive Director, Director, and four managers. The renovation also introduced a utility room, secure storage areas, and a coffee bar room for staff use. An updated restroom was also included in the redesign to meet modern accessibility and comfort standards.
The project enhances the operational efficiency and professional environment of UNMH’s Central Plant office functions, contributing to the overall performance of the hospital’s critical infrastructure and support services.
